The average asking prices of Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury homes listed for sale on Trade Me Property reached record highs in the three months to the end of April.
The average asking price for Auckland homes listed for sale on Trade me Property was $740,600, up 16% compared to the three months to end of April last year.
In Wellington it was $458,750, up 4.3% compared to year earlier and in Canterbury it was $468,000 which was up 11.3% for the year.
However the increase in average asking prices wasn’t restricted to the main centres, asking prices also on the rise in the regions.
In Taranaki where the average asking price of $380,550 was up 25% on a year earlier, followed by Southland (9.6%), Hawkes Bay (9.4%), Bay of Plenty (8.6%), Northland (8.2%), Waikato (7.7%), Gisborne (7%), West Coast (6.9%), Nelson/Tasman (5.2%), Manawatu/Wanganui (4.7%), and Marlborough (0.7%).
The only region where average asking prices declined was Otago, where they were down 2.6% compared to a year earlier.
It was the third consecutive month that the average asking price has dropped in Otago, and the average asking price of $400,550 in the three months to April was $10,750 lower than it was in April last year.
